Look at the image E and fill out the names of the items. You can find the names in the earlier lesson.

Kore wa watashi no hon desu. (This is my book)
Sore wa nihon no shinbun desu. (That is Japanese newspaper)
Are wa watashi no kaban desu. (That over ther is my bag)
Now look at the Image Fa You can fill the empty lines yourself.


Just a little help and Rei means example.
Rei 1: Kore wa kagi desu ka? (Is this a key?)
Hai, so desu. (Yes, it is) Kagi desu. (Itās a key)
Rei 2: Kore wa ho desu ka?
Iie, so dewa arimasen. (No, it isnāt) Jisho desu. (Itās a dictionary.)
Note:
We have four version of thank you:
Domo Arigato Arigato gozaimasu Domo arigato gozaimasu

Kore wa N2 no N1 desu.
Kore wa N2 no desu.
N2 = subject
N1 = object
We can write the sentence without the object
Example:
Q: Kore wa dare no hon desu ka?
= Kore wa dare no desu ka?
A: Luka-san no hon desu.
= Luka-san no desu.
Watashi no desu. (This is mine)

Note: Anata (you) is used very rarely, because itās considered to be impolite, they use name with ā SAN instead.

A: Iie, Polona-san no dewa arimasen. (No, it isnāt Polonaās)
or Iie, chigaimasu. (No, it isnāt.; Chigaimasu literary means different)
Look at the image Ga, it a conversation in the reception.


308 onegai-shimasu. (Room 308; the onegai-shimasu is very polite expression for please)
Hai, dozo. (Yes, here you are.)
Kore wa anata no tegami desu ka. (Is this your letter?)
Hai, so desu. (Yes, it is.)
Domo arigato gazaimasu. (Very, very polite thanks)
A, chotto matte kudasai. (Wait a minute, please; chotto ā a little; matte ā wait; kudasai - please )
Kono borupen mo anata no desu ka? (Is this pen also yours?)
Iie, chigaimasu. (No, it isnāt)

I just bought myself the Japanese phrasebook and there is some good stuff there, which made me laugh, specially the section Romance and I want to share it:
